About Us
3D is a youth based sports organization established in 1999
We are Vancouvers longest running basketball club with locations throughout the Lower Mainland
Our mission and vision
3D Basketball is committed to the physical, social and character development of student athletes in the pursuit of excellence in the sport of basketball. Through sport-specific skill development, athletes train in a positive and competitive environment that promotes learning and growth both on and off the court.
Diversity, Equality & Inclusion
In accordance with the Coaching Association of Canada, 3D Basketball believes that when sports leadership is diverse and equitable, everyone wins.
Our Coaches, Players and Parents all have the power to inspire pride and confidence in what is unique about each of our Players and Coaches - and to encourage unity within diversity.
3D is committed to developing and fostering an inclusive and diverse coaching environment for coaches and players within all of our programs. We recognize the importance for a diverse club and strive to include and acknowledge the differences in age, gender, education, and background, as well as unique life experiences, qualities and characteristics. We respect the differences in people regardless of gender, age, racial background, Aboriginal background, disability or sexual orientation.
Vision & Values
The vision of 3D Basketball is to provide programs to support our players with personal growth and development both on and off the court.
The three D’s: Discipline, Dedication and Determination were the foundation of 3D Basketball. It was the intent from the very beginning when 3D Basketball was founded that there was an opportunity to communicate these values as the basis of pursuing excellence in both sport and life.
3D Core Values
Respect
The ability to respond to the inherent dignity of others achievements, experiences and values - can be applied to a range of things from being appropriate in all settings, to politeness, gratitude, individual rights and social justice/responsibility.
Humility
The ability to reflect – especially our merits and achievements – in light of a larger context, and to keep this context in mind when deciding on how to act. The commitment to the truth and fairness and respect perspectives and experiences of others. Have the ability to resist the temptation to boast, generalize from our own experience or rush to dismiss what we don’t agree with or understand.
Ambition
The ability to believe and learn the methods in setting goals and achieving them. The belief that we have ownership of our path and the direction we take both on and off the court, with relationships of every type, is something we have control over.
Pride
The ability to understand and distinguish what is appropriate behavior in all dynamics. As with “Ambition”, the idea of taking ownership and accountability of oneself. That being excellent and prideful is a state of being compared to an individual act.
Leadership
The ability to lead by action, by example and by words. The belief that leaders are people of integrity and are responsible. Leaders strive to be accountable and they are committed, honest, courageous and demonstrate self-control at all times.
Growth
The ability to constantly invest and stay true to oneself. The belief that through consistency, both and on and off the court, the tools of excellence are learned and applied. To embrace a growth mindset in all facets and accept that failure is an opportunity for growth.
3D Basketball would like to acknowledge that the land on which we live, coach, teach, and learn is the unceded ancestral lands of the xwməθkwəy̓əm (Musqueam), Səl̓ílwətaʔ (Tsleil-Waututh), and Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish) Nations of the Coast Salish peoples.
